New Workflow: Effective 2025-07-09
Purpose
This document defines the workflow for receiving and cataloging new acquisitions for the Numismatics Collection, which consists of all materials received with a CJ call number (unless specifically acquired for a different collection).
Workflow
New acquisitions for the Numismatics Collection should all be transferred to LSF. Refer to Routing to LSF
Acquisitions
Receive new titles in Alma using the location code: $b lsf $c lsfmain in the Holdings Record 852 field
Insert an LSF flag in the book received.
Cataloging
FASTCAT Materials: Complete the cataloging process.
Copy and Original Cataloging Materials: Forward the items to appropriate cataloging units (current workflow is all books in this category are on the PriCat Truck) for complete cataloging process.
Fully cataloged items should be placed on LSF or Collection Care trucks appropriately.

Purpose
This document defines and describes the workflow for receiving and cataloging new acquisitions for the general collection and new titles at a curatorial collection for the Numismatics Collection received in a CJ call number for transfer to LSF for storage and circulation.
New Location Code: SMLNUM
To facilitate the processing of new materials for the Numismatics Collection and distinguish them from those housed in Mudd, a new virtual location code SMLNUM has been created. This location code will be used for transferring new Numismatics titles to LSF. Before accessioning by LSF staff, the location code in the transferred items will be automatically changed to LSFNUM.
Workflow
Acquisitions
Receive new titles in Alma using the location code SMLNUM.
Insert an LSF flag in the book received.
Cataloging
