Biographical sources for music cataloging

The collection of resources described here was primarily curated between 1992 and 2015. Since that time, several improvements to the online reference landscape have made retrieving basic biographical information about musicians much simpler, particularly via Wikipedia, IMSLP, Oxford Music Online, and Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart. However, much information needed for confirming biographical details about an individual still can only be found in print resources, or websites accessible via the Wayback machine, hence the continued maintenance of these lists.
