Below are the associate location codes for the general collection.

2. Approval Plan Monographs

The Divinity Department has established a collaboration with the Arts, Humanities, and Area Studies Department for the purposes of collection development, specifically regarding approval plan monographs.

Materials should be cataloged according to instructions from the respective selectors. If no other guidance is available, SMLLTS is a suitable default location.

3. Trailing (LC) in Holdings

Divinity applies (LC) directly after the call number only after M, N, and Z class numbers; all other class numbers exclude (LC).

4. Pamphlets

Pamphlets of 75 pages or fewer are automatically sent to LSF with the location code blsfc lsfdiv. Follow the same routing instructions as when routing items for lsf-i (in-building use only) or lsf-r (restricted).

5. World Christianity

Part of the processing of Divinity books is a selection process to identify books that fall under the topic of “World Christianity” as defined by Divinity.

A. Selection: How to decide if a work is “World Christianity”:

• Include based on subject of the work:

  • Missions

  • Evangelization

  • Third world/developing countries

  • Comparative/inter-religious works

  • Non-Western regions: All regions outside Europe, North America, Australia/New Zealand.

    • The exception to this is: Works on indigenous peoples of Western countries that deal with missionary work should be considered as “World Christianity”.

• Include based on country of publication:

  • Published in a third world/developing country

B. Cataloging: If selected to include in part A above, add this local field:

• 695 04 World Christianity $y [year of publication]

6. Day Missions Library

The Day Missions Library is a separate physical space that houses a collection on the history of foreign missions, missionary work, missionary biography, materials prepared for missionaries to use in their work, as well as related materials in such areas such as ethnology, geography, comparative religions, and linguistics, supporting missionary studies.

Books with call numbers BV should go to the Day Missions Library.

• Physical processing: Place a “Day Missions” sticker on the front of the book (leave some space for the call number label).

To indicate size, YUL Technical Services must use $m Oversize following the call number and $k Folio preceding the call number. Divinity Library staff use $k for both oversize and folio.
